The Stalking Telemarketer

I mentioned this on my radio show today. (Did I mention I have a radio show? Having a full time job is great.)

I think there’s a telemarketer who is stalking me. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but get this: a guy named Timothy has called our house the last few nights in a row (except for tonight of course; maybe I scared him: read on) and he says every night, “Hi, my name is Timothy, and I would like to talk to you. If you would like to talk to a representative, please press one now. Otherwise I would love to talk to you. Please call me back at xxx-xxx-xxxx (I don’t remember the number, nor care to). Thank you!”

Then he hangs up. Obviously it’s a record, but it leaves me with haunting questions like, what does Timothy want? Is it worth risking speaking with a representative to find out? Can I really expect Timothy to sell me anything when he can’t even tell me what he’s selling in the first place?

My strategy so far has been to hang up and hope it goes away. Starting today, it’s been working. I wish it worked on all telemarketers.
